===Lecture Details=== Craig Hassed; Week 1 MED 2031; Health promotion ===Lecture Content=== Scope can be classified as particular conditions prevented/managed, particular groups helped in the community, levels of intervention, stage of the health promotion cycle. There are 3 phases of health promotion- development, implementation, evaluation. Development involves addressing areas that need analysis, planning, reviewing literature, recruiting or training staff. Implementation involves recruitment, method of delivery, any potential harms, evaluation. Evaluation is essential to measure benefits. For successful health promotion; environment, evidence, enabling strategies, encouragement, examples and evaluation are necessary. There are three approaches to promoting health- medical, behavioural and socio-environmental. Litigating is used as a method to protect public health when government regulation is absent or ineffectual. It affects industry practices and self-policing. ===Readings===
